RANDOM ANIME REVIEW: GUNDAM 00 SEASON 1

Warning: this review is not 100% current or is it? The answer to that question is no this review was written before the scifi channel showing the series. So for that reason it gets thrown into the purgatory that is the Random Anime Review section of anime reviews which is exactly as it sounds random reviews of anime.

So season 1 of Gundam 00 will be airing on sci-fi this month I decided to let you know if you should watch it or not.

First off, let’s start with the visuals of this series. I actually like them because everything seems to be all shiny. I really do like shiny stuff. I know tons of people who don’t like the visuals, so I must be one of the few who actually like them. So I guess I must be crazy or something.

The story is sort of reminiscent to Gundam Wing. This time its about a group called Celestial Being who want to end war. By end war they mean they declare war on all the people who are having war or support war. Wow, that’s a whole lot of war. Celestial Being consists of the 4 Gundam Meisters and their support crew. The Gundam Meisters each have their own unique back story which gives them a reason to fight.

Yeah this season is a bit confusing as to what they gain. However, it does clarify it later on. It’s more or less confusing for a bit of the season. Well who needs story when you have Gundam. Ok everyone but there are some cool Gundam fights in this series. Gundam 00 is all about the casualties of war in my opinion as it shows the aftermath of these battles which is pretty interesting.

The songs in Gundam 00’s first season is actually pretty good I think, well the openings anyways. The first opening is “Daybreak’s Bell” by L’arc~en~Ciel. It is a good song! The second opening is “Ash Like Snow” by the Brilliant Green which was surprisingly good. I don’t feel like listing the ending themes, as they didn’t leave as much of an impression on me. Overall, I think the music was well done in my opinion.

Since it’s a Gundam series you know it’s owned by Bandai. They have a huge budget because of one word: GUNDAM. It is one of Bandai’s cash cow franchises. Well I do have to say that I enjoyed the series so I have to give it a 4/5.  I also think it’s not as great as its predecessors, so keep that in mind. If you have the Sci-fi channel and you are a Gundam fan you should check this out. It is pretty darn decent not great or awesome but decent.
