Sh?nen Onmy?ji (????? )

The series, set in the Heian era, Abe no Masahiro is the grandson of the great onmy?ji, Abe no Seimei.  Masahiro who has lost his sixth sense and the ability to see spirits constantly feels resentful for being in his grandfather’s shadow.  He should have the same gift and supposably did when he was a kid.   Even so, one day, Masahiro meets a fox-like creature which he names Mokkun (????) who shows him his true potential powers after fighting a demon. Mokkun is actually T?da (??), see Teng (mythology), who prefers to be called Guren. He is one of the twelve shikigami called the Shinsh? (??), who has pledged his loyalty to Seimei and is helping Masahiro to surpass his grandfather.  Masahiro’s dream to surpass his grandfather may not be realised easily as not only does he have to convince the other Shinsh? that he is Seimei’s true successor, he must also increase his power in order to stop demons coming from China, the other parts of Japan and the Underworld as well as rival onmy?ji’s who want to destroy Japan. He also has to keep his promise to protect Princess Akiko of the Fujiwara clan.  He also has to find a way to fight feelings for the princess because she is betrothed.

There is lots of action and the interaction between Mokkun and Mashiro is great.  It warms the heart but beware just like any relationship there’s arguments and tears too.
