Despite splitting his time between Batman and Mark Millar’s upcoming Nemesis Reloaded series, Jorge Jiménez isn’t leaving Gotham City anytime soon.
Batman artist Jorge Jiménez announced on Twitter that despite his new commitment to Mark Millar’s NemesisHe will continue to pencil DC’s most prestigious superhero book as a penciler.
“AH! Answer the question: Are You Leaving? BatmanThe answer is NO! Simply, I have spent months in shadows in order to be able meet a challenging but important schedule that I hope will make my year memorable. THANKS, FRIENDS!!” Jiménez tweeted alongside a fully colored page of Batman alongside Tim Drake.
Jiménez, who currently illustrates writer Chip Zdarsky’s BatmanRun, is scheduled to pencil Mark Millar’s Nemesis ReloadedThis sequel to the original series from 2010 starred a Batman-esque supervillain, who waged an unstoppable war against Washington, D.C.
The first version of NemesisThe four-issue series was published by Icon Comics in 2009. The original purpose of the book was to explore what might happen if Batman were the Joker. The sequel series, published by Millar’s Millarworld imprint features the bombastic tagline “The biggest bastard is back!”
“I’m particularly excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with Mark Millar!” Jiménez said of his pencilwork on the upcoming book. Jimenez stated that Jimenez is not only a great writer, but also one the greatest comic book artists. Additionally, Nemesisseries provides everything I need for me to express my artistic style in a daring, creative way without any filters.”
Millar also praised Jiménez, calling him “the best Batman artist of this century.” Prior to his current work alongside Zdarsky, Jiménez penciled the “Their Dark Designs” and “Joker War” story arcs of 2020 and 2021, which were both written by James Tynion IV. Jiménez has also illustrated the fan-favorite Super SonsSeries, which featured the adventures and contributions of Jon Kent (Damian Wayne) as well as Justice League And Society – Earth 2.
Batman #126, the latest book featuring Jiménez’s work, is on sale now from DC. Nemesis ReloadedLaunches in January next year
