Disney+ Reveals Release Date for Next New Anime


Disney+ is preparing to expand its anime programming in the coming years. Now, a release date has been set for one of the licensed projects for the service. The popularity of anime is growing rapidly, especially with all the interest generated by the ongoing COVID pandemic. The Walt Disney Company has also been trying it out with Star Wars: Visions. They are working on some unique projects and they have also secured streaming rights to other important releases.

Disney+ had previously announced their anime slate that featured Yasuki Tanaka’s original Shonen Jump+ series Summer Time Rendering. Now, a release date for the new anime has been established. The series launched on April 14th and celebrated with a new key visual that showcases its central cast. Although there is no confirmation from Disney+ that the series will be streamed on that date, it gives us something to look forward too. Below is the new key visual. 

Ayumu Watanabe (Children of the Sea)OLM’s current director is, Hiroshi (Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on TitanMiki Matsumoto (aka ) will be writing series scripts.Major 2ndThe character designs will be handled by Keiichi Okabe and Ryuichi Takada. Keigo Hoashi and Ryuichi Takada will compose the music. It is expected to air 25 episodes and cover Yasuki Tanaka’s entire manga series. The exclusive license to stream the series outside of Japan is held by Disney+, so we will soon see how it goes. 

Summer Time RenderingStarring Natsuki Hansae as Shinpei Ajiro and Anna Nagase playing Ushio Kofune, Saho Shurasu as Mio Fune, Makikawase as Tokiko Hishigata; Kensho Ono as So Hishigata; Jin Urayama as Ginjiro Nazu; and Yoko Hikasa portraying Hizuru Minakata. Shueisha calls the manga “Shinpei, upon hearing of Ushio’s death, returns to Wakayama, Hitogashima, and reunites his childhood friend’s family. While the funeral goes well, there is something else going on beneath the surface. What are the mysteries that await him on this isolated summer island?
