Enid Comic Con to feature 2 'Star Wars' actors | Local News

ENID, Okla. — Two “Star Wars” actors are scheduled to make appearances at the upcoming Enid Comic Con.

August 6-7, Stride Bank Center at 301 S Independence will host the fifth annual event. The hours are from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Aug. 6, and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Aug. 7.

“Star Wars” actors C. Andrew Nelson and Alan Fernandes will make special appearances for photos and autographs, which may be subject to additional charges.

Nelson is best known for having played the character of Darth Vader in the special edition re-release of the original “Star Wars” trilogy, according to organizers, as well as in the “Rebel Assault II” and “Dark Force” games.

In 1994, he began to play the role of Vader in Lucasfilm’s commercials. He has also portrayed the character for television, print, TV, radio, and live appearances. According to organizers’ information, Nelson has spent more time in his official Vader costume then any other actor.

Fernandes is the only living actor to have portrayed a Tusken Raider in the original 1977 “Star Wars” (later renamed “Episode IV: A New Hope”). Fernandes was one of the two animal trainers that worked with the elephant playing the Bantha during the desert scenes.

For those who are interested in buying, selling, or trading comics, toys, and other pop culture memorabilia, vendors will be available. Cosplay is encouraged and contests will take place throughout the event with cash prizes provided by Visit Enid.

Smash Bros. tournament will also take place. At noon on Saturday, there will be an Ultimate tournament. The entry fee is $10. Contestants are requested to bring their controllers, if they can.

Tickets are available online at https://bit.ly/EnidComicCon2022, and at the second floor of Stride Bank Center. Tickets cost $10. There are no 2-day passes.
