Mimicus Season 2 Preview
Mimicus Season 1 Review
Ji Su Bin is a young man who is highly popular on social networks because of his beautiful appearance. Lee Mi Yeon, Su Bin’s mother, is the CEO at an entertainment company. Su Bin is a trainee at the company. He is expected to be an idol. He is eventually transferred to school with Han Yu Seong (a senior MLL) who looks very much like him. Su Bin is followed on social media by many people who call Yu Seong “fake Su Bin”. Yu Seong is often called the “fake Su Bin” because they dress and dance in a similar way. Most people believe that Yu Seong is imitating Su Bin.

Yu Seong is good friends with FL and Oh Ro Si. While she is a debutante with Ice, it is clear that her fellow members are bullies as well as microaggressors. She is often left alone. She meets Su Bin and it turns out that he crushes Yu Seong, even though they are close friends.
Hyeon Wu (another Yu Seong friend) provides some backstory clues. He also told his mutual friends Oh RO Si, Sin Da Ra that Yu Seung hates copycats. Yu Seong’s mom Mi Yeon and Su Bin were his parents as a child. Yu Seong’s mom saw Su Bin in the same cardigan that she wore once, and she almost tore it off of him. She didn’t want them to wear the exact same clothes. Yu Seong can also be anxious and panicky.
In Eps 3 and 4, Su Bin (and Yu Seong) are supposed to perform solo performances in front of the school. Since Su Bin is the first to perform it is obvious that his dance is identical to Yu Seong’s. Yu Seong decides not to perform but the audience hears the song and realizes it was the same song Su Bin had just danced to. Su Bin’s imitation of Yu Seong’s dance is suspiciously received by Yu Seong’s entire circle. Su Bin defends him to Oh Ro Si. She isn’t sure who to believe.
Su Bin later hears something strange about Yu Seong dancing and enters his mother’s computer. He uncovers a secret file with information about Yu Seong. It contains details about Yu Seong, including his dance, school ID, favourite places and information. Su Bin is amazed to have learned so much about Yu Seong.
This is the end of the story.
The episodes are short but I gave it a rating of 7.5. When the series ends, I’ll adjust. Yu Seong is a senior at his performing arts school. This is one of the problems I have with this story. Everybody who attends that school should be familiar with him. It is absurd that his classmates call him “The Fake Su Bin”. It is also worth mentioning that Su Bin’s mother kept Su Bin’s identity secret at first. However, when Yu Seong accidentally appeared on Da Ra’s video, Su Bin suddenly becomes aware of his identity and is transferred to Yu Seong’s school… Yu Seong is a SENIOR.
Is it possible for writers to suggest that high school students are so stupid Yu Seong could be the copycat! That makes zero sense.
Su Bin’s dance was very similar to Yu Seong’s. I don’t know what they will say, but I think it’s obvious that you can create your own dance. It’s like making your own art. It will be interesting to see how writers explain Su Bin’s creation of the dance.
Oh Ro Si is skeptical about Yu Seong. Despite being close friends with Yu Seong, Ro Si already has doubts about who is telling the truth after just one conversation with Su Bin. Another dumb thing to write. Don’t insult womens intelligence or loyalty to their closest friends.
Yu Seong has also experienced anxiety attacks and panic attacks. This may be partly due to the bedtime story his mom used to tell him as a kid. Traumatized by nightmares, emotional scarring, and fear of water species with tentacles, he is now afraid of everything that comes in contact with them. He can’t even eat seafood. Although I’m not sure why they would choose to tell a story like this, let’s hope there is more to the Yu Seong panic attacks story.
It is possible that Su Bin’s mom, Mi Yeon, had an affair with Yu Seong’s father and the boys are identical. This would explain Mi Yeon’s obsession with Yu Seong, and the pain Yu Seong’s mom went through. It almost seems like she wants Su Bin the “original” child. This is what I predicted.
The episodes could have been slightly longer. This episode received a rating 7.5 based on the few negatives. It could change in the future.
Updated: It’s really disgusting that Oh Ro Si has already sided with Su Bin, whom she doesn’t know, and isn’t protecting Yu Seong. It makes me hate her character. Ugh. It’s obvious she is playing the “pity card” for Su Bin, but it just drives me crazy that her character is being written like that by the writers. I think of HER as the pathetic, inept one. You must have a clue. Don’t ignore the obvious. Sigh.
Su Bin is actually harassing Yu Seong, and even stalking her. It’s a form of microaggression bullying that the writers seem to enjoy writing. You don’t have to be crazy just because your mom is crazy.
