Jesse Stone is the protagonist in this series of long-running crime stories. Robert B. Parker was the creator of this character. Night Passage saw him make his debut in 1997. He was later reintroduced into tales by Parker, Michael Brandman and Reed Farrel Coleman.

THE production order
Stone Cold was the original film that launched the Jesse Stone series. This CBS TV movie was about a small-town chief police officer who investigates a crime.
The film was a big hit with the network, and was aired. Another follow-up was approved. Night Passage was the second installment.
Just a few months after Night Passage, Death in Paradise premiered on CBS. In 2007, a fourth movie was shown. A sixth film in 2009, a sixth, and a seventh were shown in 2010. A seventh was shown in 2011 and an eighth in 2012.
CBS ended the series after eight films featuring Selleck as the main character. Jesse Stone was not popular enough to warrant a change of direction.
Hallmark didn’t want to let a great series of films go to waste, so they purchased the Jess Stone series at Jess Stone for a new installment. Lost in Paradise premiered in 2015.
