Netflix announced a new anime series based upon the Tekken fighting game and released a teaser trailer. The series will be called “Tekken Fighting Games”. Tekken: Bloodline, will be centered on Jin Kazama’s character. Launch in 2022
Netflix uploaded the trailer to YouTube with the following blurb.
“Power is everything.” Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother at an early age. He was still powerless when a monstrous evil appeared and destroyed everything he loved, changing his entire life. Jin was angry at his inability to stop the evil and resolved to take revenge. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage — The King of Iron Fist Tournament.
This snippet, and the trailer, suggest that the series will be very faithful to the Tekken lore. Jin trains with his mom, fights some bullies and finally flees an attack by the giant Ogre. He then goes to Heihachi Mishima, his grandfather, for more training. We also glimpse other iconic Tekken characters such as Kazuya Misshima, Paul Phoenix, and King.
Netflix is focusing on video game adaptations. Last week, Netflix announced that the streaming service would release its live-action Resident Evil series in July.
