Plot details for the potential two-part finale are thin, though the first Mission: Impossible 7 trailer revealed the return of an old adversary for Ethan Hunt and introduced new ones.

Alongside Cruise as veteran IMF agent Ethan Hunt, Dead Reckoning Part 1 will see the return of many of his frequent operatives, including Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust, and Vanessa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis, aka the White Widow. Franchise newcomers include the MCU’s Agent Peggy Carter actress Hayley Atwell as Ethan’s new mysterious ally/love interest, Grace, and Ozark’s Esai Morales and Guardians of the GalaxyPom Klementieff is the new villain. Now, soon after McQuarrie announced the news on Twitter, Offerman addressed his surprise casting in Mission: Impossible 8. Talking to WrapThe Parks and Recreationstar claimed that he has “Never seen anything quite like it” the production of the potential franchise ender and discussed the indescribable way Cruise and McQuarrie work. It’s really fun and fascinating. There’s a handful of very high caliber actors that I’m getting to work with as well as the lead guy, and getting to toss the ball around is incredible. Watching them use the firehose technique is fascinating. They all bring a lot to the table, with a lot more experience and elan. And watching McQ and Tom do their thing, you can’t really describe it to people. It’s a must to be there. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s like they’re painting an incredible mural and we’re all the paints.

Offerman’s comments come almost immediately after the Parks and RecreationCasting for actors Dead Reckoning Part 2 was announced on Twitter by McQuarrie, along with Ozark star Janet McTeer. The director made the casting announcements with images of Offerman in character as a military official alongside Holt McCallany’s Secretary of Defense Bernstein and Henry Czerny’s returning IMF director Eugene Kittridge. On the other hand, McTeer’s character was pictured alongside Maverick is the Top Gun‘s Charles Parnell. These are some of the surprising castings. Mission: Impossible 8 It continues to add talented actors to its already impressive cast.
