Did Demon Slayer Rush Too Much in the End?


Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no YaibaIt has been a huge hit in anime/manga over the past decade. Demon SlayerAfter four years of manga, 205 chapters and 23 volumes,’s manga was finished in 2020. It’s quite a run for a manga, but many people feel that it is. Demon SlayerThe end came too early and the climax was reached too quickly. 

Did they? Demon SlayerDon’t rush at the end. 

There are two major schools of thought that you should be studying Demon SlayerThe pace and execution of its final arc. 

Demon Slayer story was all about Tanjiro Kamado becoming the classic Shonen unlikely hero who takes up the sword and the cause of demon slaying, after a demon’s violent attack leaves everyone in his family dead, save his sister, Nezuko, who is transformed into a demon herself. Tanjuro’s story involved a ladder to rank up as a demon fighter until he (and Nezuko), reached a level of power that allowed them to defeat Muzan Kibutsuji. Koyoharu Godouge, the series creator delivered the full (though concise) story he promised. 

Manga and anime are some of the most popular forms of entertainment content out right now – and the genres themselves are only growing bigger by the day. The creation of new and innovative series is increasing, but there’s a debate over whether shorter series such as Demon SlayerSagas that go on for a long time, or even longer. Dragon BallOr One Pieceyou are the model. Many fans are happy, as you can see. Demon SlayerIt is capable of telling its entire story, from beginning to end. Although the experience ends somewhat quickly, many fans find it to be an unforgettable one. The “short” experience never seems to end. Demon SlayerIts high rank on critics and fans lists of the top manga series.

This argument can also be used to support the other side. Demon Slayer final arcs (specifically the Infinity Castle Arc) rushed things at the expense of more character and lore development – which arguably could’ve enriched the series even further. This is a difficult debate to have. Demon Slayer introduced us to ten Hashira demon slayer warriors that fought alongside Tanjiro in the final battles – we also had Tanjiro, Nezuko, and their close allies (Zenitsu and Inosuke) who all needed to have their respective story arcs resolved. Gotouge loved to tell demon antagonists their stories and mini-arcs. Every Demon Slayer battle was filled with dramatic baggage.

Fans have always said that it was fair. Demon SlayerThe final battles were won in a hurry. The manga skipped major battles with the Twelve Kizuki demons as well as the Hashira fighting alongside Tanjiro. Demon Slayer buddies. In those desperate battles over the backstories of all the involved, we had a lot to deal with. There were also key pieces of lore that were hidden in the backstories key figures such as Tanjiro and Upper Rank One, Kokushibo, Upper Rank Six, Kaigaku. There may never be a definitive answer to the question of whether these side characters or the lore surrounding them merited additional chapters, sub-arcs. This is not meant to be insulting, but a testimony to the quality of the book. Demon Slayer told its story – and how much more it could tell. 

Manga: Demon SlayerAlready has the core content block in place to create a franchise from. The hit anime will continue to run for many years without any additional features. There are many prequels, sequels and in-universe spinoffs to be made. But the end is not always THE END. Fans who want to see more of these characters’ stories and continue to support the series are best to do so.
