Hulu had previously placed an order for Crossing Swords production, as it was officially announced. Hulu premiered Crossing Swords’ first season on June 12, 2020. The animated series was renewed for its second season in mid 2020. Crossing Swords season 2 released December 10, 2021, after a year. Both seasons have 10 episodes. Crossing Swords is an animated stop-motion sitcom that was created by John Harvatine IV and Tom Root. A peasant who has good intentions and dreams of being knighted is made a squire by the royal castle. His dream job isn’t all he hoped.
Hulu’s stop motion medieval comedy Crossing Swords is back for season 2! The next chapter of Patrick’s adventures (Nicholas Hoult), is ten more episodes of bingeable madness. He ascends the ladder to knighthood in the service of King Merriman, Luke Evans. Patrick will face new enemies and friends, as well horrors that will haunt him for the rest his life. This includes bloodthirsty Leprechauns, a island of killer monkeys and a villain who could end all of Patrick’s past experiences. John Harvatine IV, Tom Root, and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios are the creators of Robot Chicken, and Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. Tara Strong, Tony Hale, Maya Erskine, Adam Ray will all be heard.

Crossing Swords has a wide range of characters. The animated series features Patrick (voiced and voiced in part by Nicholas Hoult), King Merriman (voiced and voiced primarily by Luke Evans); Queen Tulip, (voiced largely by Tara Strong); Broth (voiced mainly by Adam Pally); Coral; Doreen (voiced mainly by Wendi McLendon–Covey); Ruben (voiced primarily by Adam Ray); Blarney (voiced primarily by Tony Hale); Blarney (voicedd)); Sloanela Jamil); Keefer (voiced efer); Princess Blossom (voiced ed Maya Erskine); Yvette Nicole Brown voices Meghan. Season 2 was cancelled. There is no character roster.
The first season Crossing Swords introduced viewers to a new approach to the adult animated series. John Harvatine IV, Tom Root and Tom Root were inspired to create Robot Chicken. They used the lessons from Robot Chicken to create this series. It was set in Medieval Times. When it is focused on the plotline, the show shines in its second season. Patrick, the squire returns to his quest for becoming a knight. The season can sometimes feel lost and distracted. However, it will choose to go straight when it feels that way.
It features Luke Evans, Nicholas Hoult, Tara Strong, Tony Hale, and Tara Strong. The cast is at its best this season. Some of the cast seem so lost that they are unable to be recognized. Evans, Erskine, and Hoult Evans are once again standouts. After the episodes ended, I was unable to understand the voices of the actors.
Crossing Swords Season 2: Preview
These characters would have enjoyed more development. Patrick is the only character to get this kind of development. Things start to feel disjointed. Crossing Swords feels like it is trying too hard to be different from other adult animated series. Randomly, it decides to tell a linear story. It quickly wraps up the story, then throws viewers off course. These episodes are the beginning of a story-arc. This is where the show really gets interesting. It quickly wraps up the story and returns you back to the absurd nonsense the series continues to thrive on.
There will be moments throughout the series. If there is a line they won’t cross, they won’t. Some jokes are quite funny, but the humor is not strong enough. This animated series is lacking the heart and soul that many other series have. Crossing Swords feels like you have lost all your momentum because you realized that you had run out of gas. It quickly becomes boring, even though the series appears to enjoy its vulgar humor.
Crossing Swords is a combination of Robot Chicken, Something Like Rick and Morty. It could be something truly special and original, but it doesn’t feel committed enough. Its distinctive animation style and cast are its saving graces. But, it doesn’t need a strong story to feel as real as the old king.
