Gotham PD Season 1 . HBO Max is creating a new HBO Max series to tie in the Batman movie. It will focus on Gotham City’s police department and Jim Gordon.
Who and what will we see on Gotham PD, you ask? What will this show be like compared to Gotham PD on Fox, which ended just a few years back?
When will Gotham PD release?

Gotham PD has not yet been released. However, the project is currently in production for at most a year. In 2020, reports will outline some plot ideas and showrunners.
It will also serve as a prequel to Matt Reeves movie The Batman. Richard Pattinson plays the role of the caped crusader. Although it might seem optimistic, it would be sensible to have the series in order before that movie.

What’s the plot of Gotham PD

Although there isn’t much information yet about the actual storylines, we have seen several reports over the past 18 months. Variety reported in July 2020, that Terrence winter (Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire), and Matt Reeves Dawn of the Planet of the Apes were teaming up to create a TV show that would tie into the new Batman movie Reeves is currently making. This idea appears to be expanding DC’s universe on multiple platforms.
Matt Reeves said at the time that it was an amazing opportunity to expand my vision of the film and to explore it with depth and detail only longform formats could offer. Terence Winter has written powerfully and insightfully about crime and corruption. It was an absolute dream to work with him.
Gotham’s corrupt police department will be the setting. Jim Gordon is brought in to clean up Gotham’s corrupt police department and deal with the growing crime problem. The timeline is confusing, however, FlickeringMyth reports that the movie will document Batman’s second year as Gotham City’s hero, but the series will focus on his first outings.

Reeves, DC FanDome stated that “The Gotham PD Series will look into the corruption in the Gotham Police Department.” “It goes back in Batman Year One…we will see these characters from an angle we have never seen before.”
Gordon is the main focus of this story, which is very similar to the recent Gotham series. The fact that Batman is an active character and not a child makes it possible to create worldbuilding stories and villain origin stories.
Winter left the show due to creative differences. However, things have changed. Slashfilm reported that Joe Barton, a British screenwriter (Giri/Haji. iBoy. Extinction had assumed the role of showrunner.
Slashfilm also discusses the possibility that Gotham PD could draw a lot from Gotham Central, the DC comic series that follows Jim Gordon’s efforts to reform the city’s police force.
Ed Brubaker was one the creators of this comic. He appeared on the Kevin Smith & Marc Bernadin podcast Fatman Beyond and said that he thought they might make Gotham Central. I then reached out to Matt Reeves’ producer and he told me that it wasn’t Gotham Central. They aren’t calling it Gotham Central, and it’s more like a spinoff of the movie. It’s almost like the James Gordon Show.”
Who are the Gotham PD cast members and crew?

For any of the TV series roles, no actors have been confirmed. This is a sign of how far the production has come. Jeffrey Wright could play the role of Jim Gordon again, as he was originally intended to in The Batman movie. It’s possible that other characters from the film could be played by the same actors in the TV/movie crossover.
This is why we may see any of these listed on or IMDB as the stars of the movie.
- Robert Pattinson – Batman / Bruce Wayne
- Zoe Kravitz – Catwoman / Selena Kyle
- Andy Serkis – Alfred Pennyworth
- Colin Farrel – Penguin / Oswald Cobblepot
- Paul Dano – Riddler/ Edward Nigma
- John Turturro – Carmine Falcone
- Alex Ferns – Commissioner Pete Savage
- Peter Sarsgaard Gotham D.A. Gil Colson
