What happened in the last season of Made in Abysssss?
The first season finale for Made in Abyss was concluded on September 29, 2017. Before we get to the second season, let’s recap the first season. Riko and his friends set out to find Abysss in Abyss. They found a robot boy at the first layer. Riko takes him to Reg’s orphanage. Riko plans to enter Abysss with Reg in order to find her mother. Nanachi agrees to travel with Riko and Reg to the Abyss in the season finale.

Riko, an orphaned child, lives in the Belchero Orphanage. Abyss is an underground, mysterious pit which plunges into ground.
The Abyss houses antiques and the remains of long-gone civilizations. Cave Raiders find it an ideal hunting ground. To recover antiquities, they make dangerous descents into the misty pit. It is dangerous to return from the Abyss because the “Curse of the Abyss”, a mysterious and potentially fatal disease, will appear upon ascent.
The curse grows more severe the farther one descends. Few people who have reached the bottom have ever returned to tell their tales. Riko’s mother Lyza, a Cave Raider, is given the title White Whistles. She is presumed dead after a “final fall” into The Abyss.
Riko hopes that she will be like her mother and become The White Whistle.
Reg is a robot she discovers at the Abyss’ first tier. Riko and her friend sneak Reg into Belchero. They immediately accept him as part of their tight-knit team.
Later on, many discoveries were made from the Abyss, including Lyza’s White Whistle, pages of observations and discoveries she had made, and a note apparently to Riko claiming that she is at the bottom. Riko, Reg and her companions say goodbye to Riko as she quietly leaves the Abyss. She wants to find her mother.
